ATLANTA (April 29, 2024) – Eric Morrisette, Acting Under Secretary of Commerce for Minority Business Development traveled to Atlanta to kick off the first stop of Vice President Kamala Harris’ nationwide Economic Opportunity Tour with a panel discussion at the Georgia International Convention Center.
The conversation was focused on programs and initiatives created to uplift economic opportunities for underserved communities. Mr. Morrisette was joined by U.S. Department of Treasury Counselor for Racial Equity, Janis Bowdler, and U.S. Department of Transportation Under Secretary of Transportation for Policy, Christopher Coes. Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, Congressman Steven Horsford (D-NV-04), moderated the panel.
The tour helped amplify efforts and programs the Biden-Harris Administration has put forth to improve economic mobility and increase ease of access to capital for underrepresented communities.
“The opportunity to participate in this discussion with Vice President Harris and senior officials is an honor — through the success of small businesses, I’ve seen firsthand the impact this Administration has had on opening doors of access to underrepresented communities,” said Acting Under Secretary for Minority Business Development Eric Morrissette. “At MBDA, we strive to execute programs that will equip underserved communities and minority business enterprises with the resources and access to capital needed so their businesses can succeed.”
On her Economic Opportunity Tour, the Vice President will return to several states across the country to highlight how the policies of the Biden-Harris Administration have delivered for the American people.
